Do you dare to bare… your feet?

We are challenging you to bring your mind and body together with A Walk of Glass and Fire this May.

A Walk of Glass and Fire may feel a little familiar if you saw, heard, or took part in our ‘hottest’ challenge of the year in 2023 – A Walk of Ice and Fire. Now’s your chance to take part in the 2024 edition!

So, if you are one for ‘mind over matter’ then join us to walk across broken glass and/or hot coals to raise vital funds for Suffolk Mind.

You can choose one or both walks, and there should be time to try each walk more than once.

For junior walkers (age 5-12) why not visit our Amazing Lego Walk which takes place at the same venue and on the same evening – grown ups can tackle the walk of glass, whilst your junior walker walks alongside you on 20,000 Lego bricks.

Tell me more…

Our evening of Glass and Fire will be hosted at the Suffolk Food Hall, a stunning location near Ipswich on Sunday 19 May.

The café will be open serving their delicious hot and cold drinks and warm snacks, including their popular ‘firecracker’ sausage roll. If the weather is kind, then the gelato hut will be open too – yum! All available for you to purchase on the night.

Join your fellow “brave soles” from 5pm for registration. The challenge will end at approximately 9pm, and – subject to timing – there may be the chance for participants to do a walk more than once.

There is lots of outdoor space, and plenty of seating for friends and family to relax and watch, with an extra treat for the children who can bare their feet on the bouncy pillow, whilst you have your briefing and chat to fellow walkers. If your child is up for more of a challenge, visit our Lego Walk event (taking place alongside our Glass and Fire Walks).

Entertainment on the night will include the fantastic local choir Pop Chorus, so you might hear some Annie Lennox – Walking on Broken Glass or The Doors – Light My Fire. Any requests, anyone?

It is going to fun family friendly evening, and we cannot wait to see you all there for some ‘shards’ of suspense and lots fiery fun!

How much do I need to raise?

These walks aren’t for the faint-hearted, so there’s a minimum sponsorship target of £100.

By choosing to be a Glass or Fire Walker (or both!), you’re supporting Suffolk Mind to provide mental health services to local people.

Fancy the Junior Lego walk, and 6 foot/20,000 blocks of Lego on the night too – just make a small donation on the night and you can take on the ‘treble’!

Of course, if you want to set your target higher and think you can ‘smash’ it, please do!

Can I bring guests?

You’re very welcome to bring along support, as guests add to the atmosphere on the night to bring the event to life.

Please ensure your guest(s) book their free space, so we know how many people to expect on the night.

Please note: guests aged under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. (Why not encourage your junior guests age 5-12 to try our Lego Walk.)

Is it safe?

Although they’re exhilarating and exciting, the walks are safe. They are run by UK Firewalk who have years of experience and have run hundreds of safe walks up and down the country.

Each walker is trained on the night to ensure you have the best experience.

Photos will be taken by Suffolk Mind and UK Firewalk for use on social media and future advertising. If you do not wish to be pictured, please let us know at or before the event.
