Suffolk Mind offers a range of opportunities to join us as a counsellor, either as a volunteer, or on a placement.

About the service

We operate a self-referral, easy-to-access counselling service. Our service is for any Suffolk resident (excluding Waveney) aged 18+. Clients come to our counselling service for a variety of reasons, but these could be relationships, family issues, personal crisis, bereavement, or other problems they may be dealing with. We offer counselling in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Saxmundham, online via Zoom and by telephone.

Suffolk Mind’s Counselling service have the below counsellor roles available, which can be either on placement or voluntary (qualified).

Zoom Thursdays at 5.30pm, 6.30pm and 7.30pm Fourth Friday, 4pm to 6pm

We do have an expectation that applicants have a good understanding of the work that Suffolk Mind does (outside of the counselling service) and mental health. At interviews, we do ask questions on these subjects. Please take time to familiarise yourself with our work and the services that we offer.
