Pen Pal Volunteer

We have launched a new Suffolk Pen Pal scheme to enable people to connect with others during the pandemic. We want to help people to meet their needs for community and emotional connection so they can maintain good mental health. Become a Pen Pal Volunteer by writing letters back to those to write to us. Night Owls Telephone Support

In this volunteer role you will listen, emotionally support, advise and assist service users who ring the helpline in crisis for support. Ensure safe and quality service provision. The volunteer for this role has the ability to communicate clearly with a range of people both over the telephone and in person, sometimes over sensitive and/or complex issues. The role is available in Felixstowe from Thursday to Sunday from 7:30pm with a minimum commitment of three hours. Travel expenses eligible for reimbursement.  Click here here for full description.

Greencare Allotment Volunteer

Suffolk Mind is looking for several allotment volunteers to help at our various plots throughout Suffolk. Allotment Volunteers attend regular weekly sessions to help tend and organise a successful allotment project helping people to improve and maintain their physical and mental wellbeing. Volunteer in our Bury St Edmunds Mind shop

A fixture on our high streets since 1961, Mind shops are supported by our amazing volunteers. They’re a dedicated bunch, who help us make sure that everyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. Our volunteers benefit from:

  • The opportunity to complete National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs).
  • The chance to gain new skills and experience in different roles in retail.
