As a charity we really value our volunteers and the part they play in helping us to promote mental wellbeing across the country, and supporting us in the delivery of our services.

Research Administrator

In this role you will assist the Research Co-ordinator with research administration: handling spreadsheets, data analysis and data input. This role can be based in Ipswich or Felixstowe. For more details click here.

Conference Co-ordinator

We’re looking for someone to co-ordinate the first Suffolk Mind annual conference at Quay Place on June 9th 2020 (More information on the conference here). For more details, click here.

Children and Family Volunteer

In this role you will be responsible for assisting our Events and EARLY Mind teams with children & family centred events/activities and health and wellbeing events. There is also the opportunity to help in the office with administration. For more details, click here.

BPD Support Volunteer

‘Waves’ is an innovative service for people with a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. We want a Waves volunteer to be a friendly face, willing to talk and listen to people and have a friendly chat. It would really suit a person who likes interacting with people, has a positive attitude and enjoys a challenge. If a volunteer has a skill that they wish to bring to the community, such as arts and crafts, this would be encouraged. Click here for more details.

Christmas Planning Volunteer

In this role you will be responsible for assisting our team in Quay Place, Ipswich with children and family Christmas events/activities, making this year our best Christmas to date. For more details, click here.

Quay Place Father Christmas

We are looking for a Father Christmas to be the face of our Santa’s Grotto. You will meet with families and children to give out presents at this very exciting time of year. Click here for more details.

Quay Place Elf

This Christmas we are looking for Elves to help run our Santa’s Grotto. You will greet families who visit our grotto, help with Christmas craft activities and help Father Christmas at his busiest time of year. Click here for more details. 

WW1 Heritage Schools Volunteer

In this role you will be responsible for assisting our WW1 Heritage Schools manager with the delivery of our World War One programme to primary schools in Suffolk. There is also the opportunity to help with the administration of the programme. For more details, click here .

Admin & Reception Volunteer – Quay Place

In this role you will assist staff with reception and admin duties at Quay Place, our Heritage and Wellbeing Centre open to members of the public, Suffolk Mind staff and various group and individual activities. You will meet and greet visitors, help with questions from members of the public, assist with basic admin duties using Microsoft Word and help with putting packs together. Volunteer Peer Mentor

This is an exciting and varied volunteer role which will include 1-2-1 and group support for people seeking advice and information, to help them understand and meet their emotional and physical needs and improve their own overall wellbeing. Volunteers for this role are asked to commit to at least 2-4 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months. Click here for full description.

Night Owls Telephone Support

In this volunteer role you will listen, emotionally support, advise and assist service users who ring the helpline in crisis for support. Ensure safe and quality service provision. The volunteer for this role has the ability to communicate clearly with a range of people both over the telephone and in person, sometimes over sensitive and/or complex issues. The role is available in Felixstowe from Thursday to Sunday from 7:30pm with a minimum commitment of three hours. Travel expenses eligible for reimbursement. Click here for full description.

Event Volunteer

This is an exciting and varied volunteer role which will include talking to groups and individuals to support and signpost people seeking advice and information about Suffolk Mind services. You will attend events, both within Suffolk Mind and externally, to promote the wide range of services and activities within Suffolk Mind and Quay Place. For more details click here.

Greencare Allotment Volunteer

Suffolk Mind is looking for several allotment volunteers to help at our various plots throughout Suffolk. Allotment Volunteers attend regular weekly sessions to help tend and organise a successful allotment project helping people to improve and maintain their physical and mental wellbeing. Quay Place Steward 

We are looking for a friendly face to welcome visitors to Quay Place, Ipswich and help with enquiries and other daily administrative tasks. Someone who is willing to help with whatever needs doing, from preparing promotional literature to setting up rooms for meetings. Days and hours for this role are flexible. We are open Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings.

Volunteer in Our Bury St Edmunds Mind Shop

A fixture on our high streets since 1961, Mind shops are supported by our amazing volunteers. They’re a dedicated bunch, who help us make sure that everyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. Our volunteers benefit from:
