As a charity we really value our volunteers and the part they play in helping us to promote mental wellbeing across the country, and supporting us in the delivery of our services.

Volunteer Peer Mentor

This is an exciting and varied volunteer role which will include 1-2-1 and group support for people seeking advice and information, to help them understand and meet their emotional and physical needs and improve their own overall wellbeing. Volunteer Trustee

Suffolk Mind are looking for new volunteers to join our board of trustees and help us make Suffolk the best place in the world for talking about and taking care of mental health. It’s an exciting time to join Suffolk Mind. We’re diversifying and growing our income, making the most of our prestigious heritage and wellbeing centre at Quay Place in Ipswich, and finding ways to enable as many people as possible, right across the county, to look after themselves and those around them. Night Owls Telephone Support

In this volunteer role you will listen, emotionally support, advise and assist service users who ring the helpline in crisis for support. Ensure safe and quality service provision. The volunteer for this role has the ability to communicate clearly with a range of people both over the telephone and in person, sometimes over sensitive and/or complex issues. The role is available in Felixstowe from Thursday to Sunday from 7:30pm with a minimum commitment of three hours. Travel expenses eligible for reimbursement. Click here for full description.

Event Volunteer

This is an exciting and varied volunteer role which will include talking to groups and individuals to support and signpost people seeking advice and information about Suffolk Mind services. You will attend events, both within Suffolk Mind and externally, to promote the wide range of services and activities within Suffolk Mind and Quay Place. For more details click here.

Gardener – Saxmundham

We are looking for a volunteer gardener to maintain the outside space at our office in Saxmundham. You will be responsible for general small garden maintenance: clearing, weeding, tidying and planting. For more details, click here.

Ecotherapy Allotment Volunteer

Suffolk Mind is looking for several allotment volunteers to help at our various plots throughout Suffolk. Allotment Volunteers attend regular weekly sessions to help tend and organise a successful allotment project helping people to improve and maintain their physical and mental wellbeing.   

Children’s Activity Helpers – Quay Place Explorers

We need someone to help run and set up a children’s activity area at Quay Place, Ipswich whilst parents and carers can relax, and to engage children with activities and use creative minds to explore local heritage. Garden Explorers Volunteer

You will be responsible for setting up and running our Garden Explorer Sessions. You will welcome families and children, outlining the mornings activities, read a story to the group, ensure families are kept safe, whilst providing an imaginative and creative session that promotes wellbeing. Quay Place Steward 

We are looking for a friendly face to welcome visitors to Quay Place, Ipswich and help with enquiries and other daily administrative tasks. Someone who is willing to help with whatever needs doing, from preparing promotional literature to setting up rooms for meetings. Days and hours for the role will be a regular 4 hour shift on an afternoon (1pm-5pm) or evening (5pm-9pm) Monday – Friday.

Garden Co-ordinator/Lead Gardener 

To guide and lead in all aspects of running the garden and running a two hour monthly group at Quay Place, Ipswich. Encourage and motivate others in the team, helping to assign tasks on different levels. Gardener/Caretaker – Ipswich

To help with the upkeep of the garden at Quay Place, Ipswich and ongoing maintenance, weeding and tidying. To provide general support to the Quay Place team to help keep the building tidy up so that it looks its best for our visitors.

Volunteer in Our Bury St Edmunds Mind Shop

A fixture on our high streets since 1961, Mind shops are supported by our amazing volunteers. They’re a dedicated bunch, who help us make sure that everyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support. Our volunteers benefit from:
