We Prep

We visited We Prep in Stowmarket who have one the most ingenious fundraising ideas we have ever seen! They are e-commerce logistics and fulfilment specialists, and one of their staff members Jenny, noticed around 18 months ago, that a huge amount of stock goes to wastage which could in fact still be used. She explained some suppliers will request stock is marked for waste if it has a short life remaining or ask that returned products are disposed of due to the high costs of the supplier calling them back to other parts of the world.

Jenny therefore decided to set up a ‘donations shop’ on site for staff and each quarter, as a team, they vote for the charity who will receive the proceeds. This has been great for the environment and reducing waste (and in turn the costs to the company of waste collection) but has also been a huge support to staff during the cost-of-living crisis, and to the charities who benefit.

We are lucky to have just received £509.26. The We Prep team were so inspired to learn this could enable our 0300 line to run for 20 hours, enabling us to pick up an average of 250 calls. We look forward to working with them again as we approach the Big Give Christmas Campaign later in the year.

West Suffolk College

West Suffolk College invited us to their sustainable fashion show in Bury St Edmunds and we raised £128.83 through our bucket collections on the day! Thank you so much.
