Hi, I’m Isaac.
Over the past few years, especially since the COVID-19 outbreak, many of us have come to realise the importance of good mental health and how important it is to look out for one another.
For myself, I have at times over the past few years, as others have too, struggled with my mental health, primarily in relation to anxiety and depression.
Whilst at university, I’ve been in contact with a number of agencies who have offered me appropriate support, reassurance and resources which have aided me at times when I have really struggled; one of these agencies was the mental health charity MIND.
Originally being from Ipswich in Suffolk, I have established a link with Suffolk MIND for whom I wish to fundraise, and in doing so raise awareness for the work undertaken by this incredible charity. I have set myself the following challenge: To run 7 marathons in 7 days,
I’ve always enjoyed running, both as a means of keeping fit and also because it gives me the freedom and headspace at times when I need it. I’m familiar running between half and full marathon distance but have not completed a challenge this difficult before. This will consist of running 183.4 miles in total.
I’m planning on running these 7 marathons on a range of courses and routes primarily around Cheltenham. The majority of these will not be official marathon events but will be runs equal to the marathon distance of 26.2 miles. I’ll begin this challenge on the 4th April 2022 and conclude with running The Great Welsh Marathon in Llanelli on 10th April.
Through doing this, I aim to raise awareness for Suffolk MIND, and to support others who may be struggling with their mental health.
Any donations no matter large or small will be greatly appreciated, and likewise, any words of encouragement, re-sharing of what i’ll be doing, or any other type of support will be greatly appreciated too.
During the week, i was forced to stop mid-marathon and couldn’t put any weight on my left leg. Im currently on crutches awaiting a physio appointment so am pushing back the fundraising for now. It’s a real shame, but am going to complete these 7 marathons when i am able. However, they will likely be spread out as i do not wish to injure myself further. Thanks so much to everyone who’s donated!! Give me time, and i’ll give this another crack!!
£1,025 raised and counting
Keep up the momentum and let’s see how much more we can raise.
