New Mind shop opens in Woodbridge
Shoppers lined The Thoroughfare in Woodbridge ahead of the official opening of the Mind charity shop on Wednesday 3 April!
This shop is a co-investment between national Mind and Suffolk Mind and sells a variety of vintage clothes, toys, jewellery, music and accessories. Profits will help fund the vital mental health services both charities provide.
Eamonn O’Nolan, Mayor of Woodbridge, cut the ribbon and welcomed shoppers to the store
He said: “I am particularly delighted to see Mind and Suffolk Mind move into this previously empty store.
“They are great charities who we have worked with before at the Town Council.
“Mental health is a huge thing for many people in the community – and it is great to get that message out there on the high street.”
Our CEO Jon Neal said: “This is really exciting. This is the second shop that’s a joint partnership between the national Mind charity and Suffolk Mind, the first being in Bury St Edmunds.
“There is lots of support for Suffolk Mind here in Woodbridge, we have lots of people who care about mental health and what we are trying to achieve – so I expect lots of support here for the shop.
“The national charity employs people who are experts in retail and charity shops in a way that we couldn’t do at Suffolk Mind as a smaller, local charity.
“Partnerships like this give us even more opportunities to accomplish our mission of making Suffolk the best place in the world to talk about and take care of mental health.”
Kelly Law, Mind Regional Manager, added shoppers have been knocking on the door every day for the last two weeks to enquire about the opening.
She said: “I am so excited to open – and shoppers have been just as excited as we are.
“We’re here to offer community services and provide a hub to come in, do a bit of shopping and have a chat. It’s a lovely place to visit.
“We’re always looking for volunteers and donations – so it is great to spread the word.”
Have items to donate?
The Woodbridge Mind shop is urging locals to visit the shop or get in touch to find out more about how they can get involved.
There are very easy ways that everybody can show their support such as donating quality items, volunteering in the shop or simply shopping at the store.
