Why did you become a counsellor?

I became a counsellor after my experience of counselling following an intense period of grief during my 20s. At a time when things felt uncertain, lonely and quite scary, I decided to reach out for support from someone who was accepting and non-judgemental, and that is when my life changed. I found having someone there who would listen to my thoughts and feelings, supported me to build my inner strength, and make sense of what I was experiencing. I had more clarity on my situation, my confidence grew, and I was able to move beyond feeling stuck and uncertain in my life. Counselling gave me a feeling of emotional safety, and that had a noticeable positive impact on my wellbeing and my outlook on the future. It was from that point I wanted to give back and support others to feel safe and empowered to work through their own issues, with someone who recognises that we all face challenges and obstacles that can at times overwhelm us. I believe we all deserve to be listened to, and everyone has their own unique story to tell.

Hobbies: In my spare time, I like to read if I can find a nice quiet space to do so, and I am also a keen writer. As long as I have pen and paper, I am happy. I like to go to the theatre, travel, play pool and snooker, and indulge in the odd spa day to relax and reset. I also like listening to music, socialising with friends, and going to the cinema.
