When I was just 11, I began a battle with anorexia that consumed 5 years of my life. It was a struggle that completely disrupted the path I had envisioned for myself, leaving scars both seen and unseen. Anorexia is an illness that, tragically, carries the highest mortality rate of any mental health disorder, 33% of those who face it don’t make it through. Every day I wake up, I’m reminded how lucky I am to be here.
Today, I’m healthier and stronger than ever. I’ve fought my way to recovery, running a 2:24 marathon 2 years ago, and now I dedicate my life to coaching others in achieving their running dreams. But the journey wasn’t easy, and it’s a testament to how much support and awareness is needed for men’s mental health. Men often feel like they have to suffer in silence, and that needs to change.
After the heartbreaking loss of a high school friend to suicide, I felt an even greater calling to take action. That’s why, throughout 2025, I’ll be running 12k every single day to raise awareness for men’s mental health and to support the incredible work of @suffolkmind.
The number 12 holds a heartbreaking significance, 12 is the number of men who take their own lives every day in the UK. By running 12k daily, I hope to honour those lives, spark conversations, and shine a light on the importance of speaking up, seeking help, and breaking the stigma.
This is for the men who feel like they can’t speak up. This is for breaking the stigma. This is for every step forward in the journey toward health, strength, and hope. 💪💙
