Where is the Colour Rush taking place?
The Colour Rush will take place at Venue 16, Ipswich.
How far are the routes?
We keep the Colour Rush routes shorter, so they’re fun and accessible for more people. There are two trails to choose from:
- A 3k trail (10.30am start) open to runners, joggers and walkers age 6+ (children must be accompanied by an adult)
- 1.5k trail (10.40am start) open to runners, joggers and walkers age 4+ (children must be accompanied by an adult)
At just under two miles, 3k is ideal for families or groups having a go at their first run. It’s a fun, achievable event for everyone with no pressure to finish in a certain time. Our shorter trail (just under one mile), is perfect for our youngest runners, or anyone looking for a fun, friendly, achievable run.
Both runs are packed with colour stations – with volunteers ready to cover you in powder paint as you pass.
On crossing the finish line, all participants will receive a bespoke Colour Rush medal and enjoy the sense of achievement from having supported Suffolk Mind, and mental health services in the county, at the same time.

Family ticket £18 for 1.5km/£24 for 3km
What exactly is a Colour Rush?
You will start the trails in a white t-shirt and then finish in colours of the rainbow!
As you go through the course, you will pass through various coloured paint stations manned by Suffolk Mind staff and volunteers. Their aim is to douse you with colourful powder! By the time you cross the finish line, your white t shirt will be full of colour!
Please note that our staff and volunteers are briefed to ensure the coloured powder is aimed between the shoulders and knees.
Is there an age restriction?
Anyone age 6+ is welcome to take part in the 3k Colour Rush (although children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event).
For children under the age 4-6 years, we offer our junior 1.5k trail (again children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event).
What time should I arrive at Trinity Park?
Registration will take place between 9.00am and 9.30am – please check your confirmation booking email for your sign-in slot.
Runners for the 3k trail should be signed in and ready to warm up at 10.15am. We will set our runners off in colour groups (to avoid congestion at each colour station) from 10.30 onwards. Your confirmation booking email will confirm your slot.
Those participating in the 1.5k trail will set off after your 3k runners have departed.
Do I have to fundraise?
In 2025 our event raised more than £14,000 for vital mental health services in Suffolk. As an independent charity, who receives no funding from National Mind, this really is essential fundraising for us.
We would love it if every person taking part in 2026 could aim to raise at least £10 for mental health services in Suffolk. £10 could help us connect with five people in need via our Helpline. The Helpline is funded through donations and sponsorship and supports more than 30,000 people every year.
We hope you will set up a fundraising page on our website and support us in making Suffolk the best place in the world to talk about and take care of mental health.
Of course, if you can aim to raise more we would be so grateful – one of our top fundraisers in 2024, Lorna, raised more than £1,200!
Raising £50 could help someone access a life changing counselling session.
Raising £200 could support a GreenCare allotment group run a session (located in Felixstowe, Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill).
What terrain will I be walking/running on?
The route this year will mainly be on grass. We have marked out a route which keeps walkers/joggers/runners predominantly to the mown grass. We hope that the weather will be kind and dry, however, it may be muddy or slippery in places.
Is the route pushchair or wheelchair accessible?
We cannot guarantee that all portions of the route are accessible, so this event is open to walkers/runners only. However, we welcome everyone to cheer them on.
Is there parking?
Yes there is plenty of free parking on site.
Can I bring someone to cheer me on?
Yes, we welcome guests! Please remind your guests that the colour powder can spread to the edge of the trail, so they should also be mindful of what they wear.
Can I bring my dog?
We kindly request that NO DOGS, except assistance, PAT and authorised security dogs are brought along to this event. This is in the best interest of your family pet and all those participating.
Will there be refreshments?
We encourage all families to come prepared with water in a re-useable bottle. You will be able to refill your bottle at the refill station when you finish. There will not be any water refill stations along the course.
Light refreshments will also be available to purchase from a food truck.
Can you store my personal items?
Unfortunately there is no secure storage in the event village. We would ask you to travel light, or lock items securely in the boot of your car.
Is the colour powder safe?
We source our colour powder from Ministry of Colour. They have advised “Our colour powder is non-toxic. It is the safest available on the UK market. We work closely with our factory to ensure the quality of our colour powder. It is created in a factory in India, the traditional way, using corn starch and natural dyes to ensure the safest product possible. Read and download the Ministry of Colours Safety Data Sheet.”
It is recommended (but not compulsory) that every runner wears sunglasses or goggles, to avoid any irritation to eyes.
Participants with asthma or any other respiratory conditions are asked to strongly consider if this event is suitable for them to take part in. If you are concerned, but wish to take part, use a bandana or dust mask to cover your mouth.
Will the powder stain my clothes and running shoes?
Like any other colour powder, Ministry of Colours colour powder can stain clothing. We recommend therefore, wearing clothing you don’t mind ‘colouring in’.
If anything becomes coloured that you would prefer not to, as with anything dirty, we recommend the sooner the gear gets washed the better. Dust off all excess powder before washing with cold water.
Will the powder stain my hair?
The coloured powder does wash out of your hair. However, we recommend you take precautions if you are worried! Oiling your hair (or using leave in conditioner) before the run should help the colour wash out. Brush the powder out of your hair post event, and wash with cool water and a good-quality shampoo (repeating the process as needed).
Can I preserve the colours on my Colour Rush t-shirt?
If you would like to preserve the colour in your running shirt, we recommend:
- Avoid shaking it and remove carefully
- Lay flat and spray with white wine vinegar
- Dry flat and then iron to fix the colour
- Put your t-shirt in a tumble dryer on high for a further 10 minutes to provide added fix
Will the coloured powder affect my phone or camera?
We will have photographers on site to capture the day and the resulting gallery will be accessible from our website (families have the option to wear ‘do not photograph’ stickers).
If you wish to capture your own photos of your family, we recommend covering cameras/phones with cling film or placing your phone in a zip lock bag, to avoid any damage.
