We really value working in partnership with Suffolk Mind, both delivering projects and in the training they provide to our staff, which we would fully recommend. We have offered our staff a few different courses and all have been really well received. It has been a great way of showing we value them and their wellbeing, whilst also increasing confidence in supporting and understanding the wellbeing of our customers. As part of our ongoing commitment to improve staff health and wellbeing across the School of Health Sciences, we engaged Suffolk Mind to deliver a range of 6 workshops for my managers on Supporting Staff as well as the Your Needs Met session for all staff. We wanted to not only to promote good mental health, but also to raise awareness and enable both managers and staff to be confident about discussing mental health and help them identify signs and symptoms within their teams. I would highly recommend Suffolk Mind to all organisations of whatever size.
The ‘Suffolk’s Needs Met’ session that Ezra delivered to our senior managers was greatly appreciated. For the past 18 months GB Railfreight have worked closely with Ezra at Suffolk Mind in our attempt to increase Mental Health awareness, education and support within the business and the wider society. Ezra delivered an excellent 1 day workshop to over 60 managers within GBRf based upon understanding mental health issues and processes for effective communication with distressed people. All the training sessions have been really well received by our staff and have equipped our managers with practical tips to identify emotional needs of individuals and reflectively reframe conversations with people in distress, something that has been particularly important and invaluable to our staff who regularly respond to incidents on the railway.
With busy working lives, stress can be difficult to identify and easily ignored. The Suffolk Mind Stress Awareness course has helped the Crafted team take a step back from the day-to-day and better understand stress and the impact it has on our lives. The course was well constructed and everyone got a lot of value from the day. We’re proud to be partnering with Suffolk Mind as part of our commitment to positive health and wellbeing in the workplace.
The session has provided us with a better understanding of mental health issues, and the impact it can have on all of us is our work and personal lives. The course has enabled staff to develop an understanding of our customer’s need, while enabling us to better look after our own mental health.
Learning about the Emotional Needs framework from Suffolk Mind was invaluable and gave Gecko’s artistic and producing team a new layer of understanding and methodology to add to our current practice. It has deepened the understanding of what we already do in terms of engaging more effectively with performers, participants and staff and is useful to understand how the quality of our relationships can be improved. This collaboration was enormously positive for Gecko and resulted in work we’d like to develop further and deliver regularly. The team at Suffolk Mind were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and interested to explore new methods through which to deliver their services. The organisations continue to have a strong working relationship and are seeking further opportunities for collaboration.
We have been working with Suffolk Mind over the past year to enhance our understanding of mental wellbeing. This has taken the form of quarterly Emotional Needs Audits as well as more formal training seminars on subjects such as stress management and the innate human needs. We have benefited greatly from this insight with encouraging feedback from employees. We have found all of the Suffolk Mind team to be friendly, professional, engaging and knowledgeable and the process as a whole to be extremely worthwhile and one that we intend to incorporate into our ongoing business strategies.
We’re committed to helping our staff achieve optimal levels of mental health and so we engaged with Suffolk Mind to achieve this. Ezra delivered a number of ‘Your Needs Met’ workshops to all our people which have helped generate awareness of mental health issues – and also enabled some employees to open up about their own experiences. Most people commented on the depth of what they learnt in the workshops and, in addition to lots of practical tips, Ezra provided some fascinating insights on positive mental health. Suffolk Mind have been a capable and professional organisation that has helped our firm’s understanding of mental health. We are already exploring new ways to work with them in the future, and we recommend them to anyone else seeking to improve workplace wellbeing.
As part of the AXA Cares programme, 6 members of our team spent the day volunteering with Suffolk Mind at their Ecotherapy allotment site in Ipswich. This gave us a really good insight into the benefits this facility provides for people suffering with anxiety and depression. It’s easy to see how people can start to open up and talk about things that are causing them distress in this informal setting. For us, it was also a great opportunity to work together as a team whilst feeling that we were helping to make a difference.

The Workplace Wellbeing course was fantastic, I haven’t stopped telling people about it and would happily listen to it all over again so I can remember more. I also thought Ezra was the most warm and captivating speaker I’ve come across.
The Your Needs Met training was very insightful and validated lots of the strategies I am currently using in my work. The facilitator was very engaging, she clearly loves her job and is passionate about raising awareness around mental health. We were given a set of the Your Needs Met cards which I have used on many occasions with the parents and young people I work with as a tool to help them understand their own needs. I have also used the cards with my own family to instigate difficult conversations with my teenagers. This 3 hour course is one of the best I have attended and has definitely given me more confidence to talk about mental health. I was really pleased that some schools were in attendance as they are having to deal with more and more young people who are struggling.
The CCGs started working with Suffolk Mind as part of our ongoing commitment to improve staff health and wellbeing within the workplace. We have implemented the Emotional Needs Audit and Your Needs Met staff sessions, with Supporting Staff Mental Health manager sessions due to be undertaken next. Our staff have already expressed how valuable the training sessions have been, with many proclaiming it is the best training they have ever been on. The Emotional Needs Audit has allowed us as employers to focus on areas where we can make improvements in the workplace that enhance the emotional wellbeing of our employees, and we are continuing to receive support from Suffolk Mind towards embedding a sustainable wellbeing culture at work.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Your Needs Met training and would do it again and again. Sue Gray delivered the training incredibly, it’s not just a one size fits all approach training session. I particularly enjoyed understanding the reasoning behind the need for sleep, and after taking it on board, I had the best night sleep of my life! I learnt so much about myself and what I need for balanced wellbeing, amazing!
Recruitment is an industry that is notorious for its highs and lows. Not only do we want to be able to better educate our candidates and clients on the benefits of a good night’s sleep, we believe that that process also needs to start internally. We found that providing the Sleep Well Work Well workshop to polkadotfrog and greywolf employees was extremely beneficial, everyone who participated actively engaged throughout the whole session, asking questions and also sharing their experiences of how not getting enough sleep has impacted their life both inside and outside of work. We had great feedback from all participants and we would highly recommend this session to any organisation who is looking to reduce stress for their employees.
As part of our commitment to creating an open, honest and healthy working environment, we worked with Ezra from Suffolk Mind who delivered a ‘Sleep Well, Work Well’ session for our staff. The session was a couple of hours long and Ezra did an incredible job of explaining the different stages of sleep, the importance of getting good quality sleep, and the impact this can have on our general wellbeing. Ezra was extremely knowledgeable and gave our staff lots of tips and advice to help improve their sleep. The course was very engaging and it definitely got everybody talking. We would highly recommend Suffolk Mind to other organisations, and we hope to work with them again in the future.
