So, why have I decided to run a half marathon on behalf of MIND charity? Well, to prove something to myself and hopefully encourage others to have faith in themselves too.

I have spent most of my life comfort eating and drinking and ignoring the issues in my life. As a result I became obese, suffered with depression and anxiety and with the help of a career in policing became distrustful and paranoid of my fellow humans.

It wasn’t until my late 20’s, after a particularly distressing investigation involving an infant that I began to realize that I cant live my life suppressing the things in the world that bother me. I followed the advice I had given many victims of crime, and referred myself to the psychological well being services who enrolled me onto a course of cognitive behavioral therapy starting me on my road to recovery.

Its been a tough five years for me and my weight hit its peak during lock down at 129kg (20.3st). Over the past three years I’ve been working with a dear friend to reduce my weight and and become healthier in both body and MIND. Trialing multiple diets that didn’t stick and dealing with the frustrations of no progress. Ive started to see progress now, just over 10kg lighter and reducing monthly.

After years of following fad diets and giving up, its time to prove to myself that I can reach my goals by crossing that finish line at the Cambridge Half Marathon on 9th March 2025.

Please support my mission and support all of those others out there who need courage to address their own mental and physical well being by donating to my page. The minimum i need to raise is £250 but I’m aiming for £500 to try give back a little extra so dig deep! whatever you can spare will go a long way.

See you all at the finish line!!
