Nick Walton vs. The Whole Hog 2026

In 2026, I’ll be taking on the legendary Whole Hog event as part of Team AccuGrit to raise money for Suffolk Mind.

Now, for those who know me, you’ll understand why this is such a significant challenge.

I’m a big lad, spectacularly unfit, and currently possess the athletic ability of a slightly overworked wheelie bin. If there were Olympic medals for avoiding cardio, I’d be a strong contender.

Yet somehow, through a combination of poor decision-making and misplaced confidence, I’ve signed up to tackle the Whole Hog.

This isn’t just a case of turning up on the day and hoping for the best. It will require months of training, determination, dedication, and a level of physical exertion my body has spent years actively avoiding. There will be early mornings, aching muscles, questionable noises when standing up, and frequent negotiations with myself about whether a training run can be classed as “mental preparation” if I think about it hard enough.

The good news is that I’ll be providing regular training updates so you can follow my progress from “out of breath tying my shoelaces” to “possibly capable of running for more than three consecutive minutes.”

Why Suffolk Mind?

While there will be plenty of laughs along the way, the reason behind this challenge is incredibly important.

Suffolk Mind works to improve mental health and wellbeing, providing support, advice, education, and services to people facing mental health challenges. Mental health affects all of us in some way—whether personally, through family, friends, or colleagues—and charities like Suffolk Mind play a vital role in ensuring people can access the support they need when they need it most.

By supporting this challenge, you’re helping Suffolk Mind continue their fantastic work in promoting positive mental health, reducing stigma, and supporting people through difficult times.

How You Can Help

Every donation will help support Suffolk Mind’s important work while also providing me with the motivation to keep training when the sofa starts making increasingly persuasive arguments.

Think of your donation as an investment:

£10 helps Suffolk Mind continue their valuable work.
£20 helps Suffolk Mind even more.
£50 gives me absolutely no excuse not to finish.
£100 might even convince me that this was a good idea.

So please support Team AccuGrit and help me take on mud, hills, obstacles, exhaustion, and my body’s long-standing opposition to exercise.

With your support, we can raise money for a fantastic cause and, with a bit of luck, prove that even a very unfit big lad can achieve something extraordinary.

And if I do make it across the finish line, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that your donation helped support mental health services and funded one of the most ambitious mid-life fitness experiments in recent history.

Thank you for your support! 🐷💪

Please donate what you can and help me support Suffolk Mind while I attempt to survive the Whole Hog 2026.
