“Recovery from anything is honestly one of the most badass things a person can do” Anonymous
Many coping strategies keeping people in recovery and out of relapse have been removed by lockdown, yet there is support and ways to manage if you can reach out and adapt.
Viewing lockdown as an opportunity for growth (because quite frankly, the depression spiralling alternative is not an option for me!), I have swapped my usual therapy (strength training and human contact), to painting.
Art was always my first love, but then life got in the way and I ended up in insurance (go figure). I haven’t picked up a brush for 20 years, but painting the inspirational females around me really has provided me with strength!
Suffolk Mind is a fabulous resource and does some excellent community work. If I can raise a little bit of money by painting others, then that would be a great way to give back during this pandemic!
I’m not a professional, but would love to paint creatively in return for a donation. Please feel free to contact me on my LinkedIn page.
