Katie Roberts: 2.6 challenge

Katie is running 2.6 miles a day for 26 days as part of the 2.6 challenge.

Katie was due to take part in the Great East Swim in June 2020, however due to current circumstances this event has been postponed.  

After a challenging year in 2019, I have decided I would like to fill 2020 with as many positive and exciting aspirations. 

Last year, I was faced with some mental and physical challenges, which left me having to temporarily stop playing rugby at a high standard in December 2018.

After understanding why I was constantly ill from medical advisors, we then realised that this was actually a huge result from being stressed and over training for the rugby academy, whilst being unwell. 

A result from this was to have an operation on my throat. This was completed in December 2019 and I am already feeling a lot better. 

I did not return to the college/academy in September 2019. This was a huge decision I had to make but was definitely the right decision. 

Going through something traumatic no matter how big or small is like being bruised. That bruise takes time to heal.

I finally reached out to counselling and finally have started my pathway to mending those ‘bruises’. 

I have since then used Suffolk Mind as a platform of support. I would like to support Suffolk Mind like they have supported me through my tough times. I would like to spread awareness through Suffolk and further, that it’s okay not to be okay. There is always someone there to talk to, no matter how big or small your concerns are.
