Event Details

As part of the Suffolk Mind commemorations to mark the Centenary of Armistice Day, we present a FREE event to support forces personnel, ex-forces, their families and friends by providing information about the services and help available to them.

Timetable

  • From 10am, you can browse information stalls for help and advice.
  • From 11am, you can enjoy the view of 2,018 poppies being unveiled.
  • 2.30pm, you can attend a FREE Suffolk Mind Workshop, ‘Understanding Trauma in the Brain’ (places are limited call 01473 569696 to book).

This workshop will explore how the symptoms of trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder and social anxiety phobia arise; how traumatic and distressing experiences become conditioned into the brain and how unaddressed trauma can give rise to addiction, self-harm and trigger long-term mental health conditions.

There will also be a discussion of the risk factors which make us more vulnerable to developing trauma; how we can support people to overcome trauma and reduce the risk of distressing experiences having a long term impact.
