Volunteering

You can make a valuable contribution! We need people who are willing to share their experiences and are open to learning new skills.

Whatever your reasons may be – the children flown the nest, retirement, needing a new focus, looking into a new career, wanting to help others - as a Volunteer you can:

  • turn your life experiences, skills and knowledge into action
  • make a difference
  • meet new people and build up your own confidence and that of others.

We offer opportunities for personal development in a social, caring and enabling environment and all activities aim to build self esteem and confidence whilst helping others.

"Research shows that people who volunteer tend to enjoy better physical health, stay fitter and even live longer". (Suffolk Volunteer Bureaux & Centres County Newsletter, Dec 2005).

Formal work experience and qualifications are not usually necessary. You need to be a good listener, wanting to draw on your personal experience and enjoy working with people of all walks of live. If you have some time to offer and are able to commit yourself on a regular basis we would like to hear from you!

In return we offer appropriate induction, regular supervision sessions and support from staff, respect and consideration, paid expenses, access to appropriate training and cover by our Public Liability Insurance.

These are some of the areas where our volunteers make an important difference:

  • Admin Tasks
  • IT-Tuition
  • Cooking/Catering
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Creative Writing
  • Camera Clubs
  • Counselling
  • Fundraising activities or co-ordination
  • Women’s & Men’s Groups
  • Complementary Therapies

But we are happy to hear from you and discuss any other idea you may have.
If you would like to know more about volunteering with us please get in touch. Contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator and we can arrange for you to have an informal chat and a look around before you commit yourself!

Interested? Then contact us.
