An opportunity has arisen to join the staff team for a residential care home that provides 24-hour care and support to 10 residents. This is an innovative service for people with long-term mental health needs whom, because of age or physical ill health, need additional support and personal care. We are looking for someone who has experience of working in a caring role, either in residential or community based setting. The ideal candidate will be able to provide care with sensitivity and a flexible approach, respecting the rights and individuality of people using the service. They must be able to work as part of a team to meet the emotional, physical and recreational needs of the residents. (Job Ref ESM-CW)

Support (STR) Worker Posts, Ipswich (3 posts)
Hours worked on a shift system
Level 1 £15,839.83 – £16,951.74 p.a. OR
Level 2 £17,285.95 – £19,265.53 p.a.
(salary dependent on experience and qualifications)
We are looking for dynamic individuals with skills and experience in supporting people with mental health difficulties. The work involves providing help and support ranging from advice on housing and benefits, to personal emotional support to people recovering from mental health difficulties. You will have relevant practical skills and a willingness to support individuals in practical everyday tasks, enabling people to develop skills, opportunities and independence. A team player, you will need to be a good communicator able to relate to people, have knowledge of supported housing and health and social care and previous experience in this type of work or similar field. For level 2 you will need a NVQ 3, Certificate 3 in Mental Health or equivalent.

We are looking for people with proven mental health support skills, to be a proactive member of the team. You will be an active member of the staff team supporting people in their homes. You will be required to support and lead members of the team, in liaison with the Team Leader. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute to evaluation and development of the services. A NVQ Level 3 or Certificate in Community Mental Health Care Level 3 or equivalent required.

Our Community Resource Centres for Mental Well-being in East Suffolk offer a range of flexible needs-led activities and services. In addition to this we provide an independent advice service for people seeking support for emotional and psychological problems. You must be able to demonstrate sound experience of working in the field of mental health, preferably in a community setting. You need to be empathic with a holistic approach to mental well-being and a skilled listener. You will be experienced in organising and facilitating group work and activities, which build confidence and encourage recovery through personal development. You will be highly aware of the issues relating to healthy living and supporting people towards pathways of recovery. (Job Ref-RCTW)

Mental Health work with Black and Minority Ethnic Communities across Suffolk
Liaising with a range of stakeholders, you will work to reduce the inequalities faced by BME communities in mental health care. You will be responsible for implementing the Delivering Race Equality (DRE) action plan, fulfilling the following roles: change agent, service developer, capacity builder and access facilitator. To succeed, you will need to have a background in mental health care with an understanding of the difficulties and challenges faced by BME communities. Trustees

We are currently seeking new Trustees to join the Board of Directors. In addition to fulfilling the statutory duties of a Charity Trustee, each is expected to use their skills, knowledge and experience to help the Board to reach sound decisions in the governance of the Charity. The Board is particularly keen to develop its expertise in Finance and Accounting (with a view to appoint a new Treasurer in 2009) plus Law, Business Management, Marketing, Social Enterprise and Partnership Operation (we have recently formed a strategic alliance with West Suffolk Mind). Experience of governance would be an advantage but is not required. The Board would welcome applicants from people new to East Suffolk Mind, as well as from people with a history of experience and involvement with the organisation. Induction and training package provided.
