Programmes
We offer a range of programmes to people that are experiencing mental ill health or are at risk of developing a mental health problem. We are constantly adding to our range of programmes offered across Suffolk. At present a few programmes are only available in the East or in the West but we plan to expand these over time so they cover the whole county.
Confidence/Self Esteem
The programme will help participants to understand how to break the circle of a negative self image by learning some tools and techniques to improve self confidence and become more assertive.
Food & Mood
How we feel affects what we eat and what we eat affects our mental well-being. This course will help to raise personal awareness, enabling participants to make changes to ensure they are in control, and eat what they need for physical and mental well-being.
Motivate to Activate
The programme helps people understand how becoming more active and engaging in activity will help to improve mental health and have a positive impact on different aspects of their lives. Participants will explore ways in which they can incorporate exercise into their daily lives.
Life Choices (Moving Forward)
This programme aims to bridge the two issues of physical and mental health. Participants will look at moods and depression and incorporate key elements of other programmes such as food & mood, self esteem and the benefits of being active.
Managing Depression
The programme looks at the physical and emotional aspects of depression, the causes and triggers as well as introducing coping strategies and positive thinking.
Cannabis Cessation
The programme is carefully designed to support participants as they learn about their relationship with cannabis. It offers a new perspective and encourages participants to think about how they can effect change.
Think Smart, Drink Smart
The programme helps participants look at how and why they drink and how to make changes to ensure they remain in control and drink only what and when they want.
BME Community Support
The programme provides a better understanding of the services, support and information available for the black, minority and ethnic communities.
Find Yourself
The programme builds self confidence and self esteem. Participants will be helped to understand what has been happening in their lives and enable them to take control.
Stress Management Workshop
This one day workshop will help participants gain awareness of their stress levels and the causes of their stress, while also building positive coping strategies and offering practical tools to reduce stress.
Programmes are usually held in the Direct Access, Information and Advice Centres but where appropriate alternative venues such as community centres may be used. There is sometimes a waiting list for specific programmes.
About....
Anger Management
This group is about understanding your anger, and the way in which you currently deal with it.
The course is run for the benefit of people who suffer from poor anger control and irritability and feel that their anger is having a negative impact on their daily lives. You will be able to look at ways of dealing with your anger that are appropriate and constructive.
Anger is a very normal and necessary emotion. It is something we all feel on occasions. It is a part of our natural defence system. What is really important is how we deal with it. The Anger Management course will help you to look at how you deal with anger at the moment and help you to understand why you deal with it this way. Once you have a better understanding of why you get angry you will be able to deal with it in more appropriate ways.
The course is run in a group setting, with two facilitators and approximately eight participants. For the course to be fully productive, course participants should expect to contribute wherever they can, using their own experiences to help develop everyone’s understanding of anger

About.....
Anxiety Management Course
The Anxiety Management course will help you to look at what anxiety actually is, how it works
We look at physical and psychological aspects of anxiety. Looking at ways in which you can reduce tension, and the effect that it has on you.
The course will help you to develop the skills of positive thinking, problem solving and assertiveness. We also practise various methods of relaxation.
We all get anxious from time to time. Life events sometimes create difficulties for us. Anxiety becomes a problem when we feel it for long periods of time - when it starts to have a major impact on our lives and seems to be controlling us and limiting what we can do. Sometimes it becomes difficult to understand why we feel the way that we do. Being in a group setting will help you to feel less isolated with your anxiety.
The course is run in a group setting, with two facilitators and approximately eight participants. It lasts 7 weeks and requires regular attendance.
