An easy to access self referral service for anyone affected by a diagnosis of dementia

What is Dementia counselling?
A diagnosis of dementia can bring many changes and challenges to the individual and those around them.  Counselling can help to effectively manage these changes by offering a safe and confidential space to explore feelings and emotions.

Suffolk Mind’s counsellors
Our counsellors have been trained to work specifically with those affected by a diagnosis of Dementia or with their carers/family members. All our counsellors are qualified, with some completing hours towards their final degree qualification and/or accreditation with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).

Is it for me?
Our counselling service is available to anyone aged 16 and above. Your first session (assessment session) which will address any questions that you may have and enable you to decide if counselling is the right way forward for you.

How many sessions do I have?
We offer 6 sessions plus the initial assessment. Each appointment lasts for 50 minutes and are held on a weekly basis.

Where?
Healthy Mind Counselling Service runs Monday to Saturday morning which some evening appointments.

For this service only, we can offer home visits. We offer counselling either face to face or telephone in Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Saxmundham.

Fees
Healthy Mind Counselling Dementia Service is a specialised counselling service and is a fee paying service (£45.00 per session).
