Courses
Suffolk Mind runs a varied programme of FREE courses across Suffolk to help you improve your mental health and wellbeing. We try to ensure that all of our courses run at a time and venue to suit you - our courses take place on Monday to Friday, mornings, afternoons and evenings. Your right to privacy and confidentiality is respected at all times.
Anger Management
Anger is a normal and necessary emotion; it's how we express it that can cause us problems. This course looks at ways of recognising your personal triggers and reactions and learning techniques to help you deal with your anger in safe, appropriate and constructive ways.
Course duration:
1.5 hours per week over 7 weeks.

Anxiety Management
We all get anxious from time to time, but prolonged anxiety can have a very negative affect on our lives. This course explains the physical and psychological aspects of anxiety and ways of reducing stress. It will provide you with practical coping strategies, such as distraction, problem-solving, assertiveness and relaxation techniques, to help you manage your anxiety effectively and lead a fuller life.

1.5 hours per week over 7 weeks.

Confidence & Self Esteem
If confidence is an area where you have difficulties and you would like help to improve your self esteem, this course will provide you with the tools you need. The course looks at what creates low self esteem, how it impacts your day to day life, and provides you with helpful techniques to increase your confidence and self worth.

1.5 hours per week for 7 weeks

Depression Management
Depression can affect people of any age and has an enormous impact on our lives. If you feel you are suffering from depression, this course will provide you with practical coping strategies whilst exploring the emotional and physical aspects of depression and its causes and triggers.

Find Yourself (Women Only)
This is a follow-on course for women who have already attended the Confidence & Self Esteem course (above). It will build on what has previously been learnt to provide you with a deeper understanding of yourself and your life events. It will revisit and explore negative behaviour patterns and provide you with the tools and techniques to enable you to make realistic changes.

Food & Mood
Our relationship with food can be quite complex, with how we feel affecting what we choose to eat, and what we eat having a direct effect on how we feel. This course will explore the link between food and mental health and wellbeing, whilst equipping you with the information you need to enable you to change unhelpful patterns of behaviour and improve your lifestyle choices for a happier, healthier life.

1.5 hours per week for 6 weeks

Post Natal Depression
Becoming a parent can change your life in many ways that you may never have considered, and sometimes it can feel hard to cope. This course explores these life changes in more detail and gives you the opportunity to share your feelings, experiences and concerns with others in a confidential, supportive environment. The course looks at the physical and emotional aspects of post natal depression, its causes and triggers, and what tools and techniques you can put in place to help you through it.
Course duration:
1.5 hours per week over 7 weeks

Sress Management Workshop (Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds only)
Around twelve million adults see their GP with mental health problems each year, and many of these are stress related. Stress can have a major impact on our ability to function effectively, so what can we do to tackle it? This workshop looks at the causes of stress and will give you valuable tools and techniques to help reduce your stress levels and improve your ability to cope, putting you back in control.
