Advice and Information
Advice & Information
Mind National have produced a large library of booklets and information sheets on many aspects of mental health and wellbeing. They are available in our offices or you can access them from the Mind National website.
Both East Suffolk Mind and West Suffolk Mind offer consultation sessions with experienced staff. They are slightly different depending on which of us you approach.
West Suffolk Mind's Consultations
In West Suffolk Mind, when people first make contact, we have what we call a 'consultation'. This is a short, very informal meeting, usually around 20 minutes; between you and one of our workers where we can talk about what difficulties you are having and what we may be able to offer you. We always try our best to help you. If we can't offer you one of our services we will always try to suggest who may be able to help you.

East Suffolk Mind's Advice Information and Support Service (AISS)
This is a 'First stop' and 'sign posting' service provided by East Suffolk Mind
The service is provided in a manner that supports clients to assess and address their own needs. The service is suitable for people experiencing a range of difficulties including mental distress and mental ill health. The service operates on the principles of 'open access', i.e., people can self refer. The service is free and be accessed by contacting ESM's Community Resources in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket or Saxmundham.
1 to 3 sessions are available. If 'needs' are not met, clients will be signposted to appropriate, alternative services. Clients can be signposted to counselling, group therapy or appropriate legal, welfare services etc. Our staff have links to and work in partnership with other agencies. The service is delivered by experienced staff who have knowledge of local communities and resources. Appointments are private and confidential (according to policy). The service is available during normal working hours throughout the week in various locations. The ease of accessibility is highly valued. Our staff have a wealth of knowledge and are empathic, creative and resourceful in their practice.
